What is, "Just Another Night in Bozeman"

"Just Another Night in Bozeman" is a collaborative interactive fiction story/game, based loosely off D20 Modern, that is set in a world that very nearly mirrors our own.

Portions of this game will take place publicly so that potential new players can see if they're interested. Examples of things that will never be public are:
  • Each Character's Stats and Equipment
  • Each Character's Background
  • Each Character's Discussion with the Game Master
The Game Masters posts will be this yellowish color. Game mechanics such as dice rolls will be red like this.

As a new player you will receive authorship to this blog for group games. All gameplay should be done in posts, with comments reserved for specific comments or questions for the Game Master. You'll get to chose your own unique color for posts on this blog. When your character speaks it should be done in quotations. Private one-on-one gameplay will take place on private blogs that will be created for all of the characters.
To create a character for the game there are a couple of questions that need to be answered.

  • How old are you?
  • How did you get to Bozeman? (ex. were you born in Bozeman, did you move there for skiing)
  • What do you do? (ex. college student, restaurant worker)

Introduction

It's not a dark and stormy night. It's a cold, crisp, clear November night, and stepping out of the warmth of the car you wonder when it will snow. You're here to check on your friend Jim, who had a high fever during breakfast, and couldn't keep down Main Street Over Easy's delicious buffalo scrambler. "Oh probably just a bug I caught on vacation, I should have known better than drink the water in Mexico," he had said, laughing off your suggestion that he go the hospital. Your momentary reverie is broken when a big dog runs up barking at you, stopping ten feet away to start pacing back and forth. "Oh quiet Nolan, it's just me!" You say in that cutesie voice people use to talk to kids and animals.
Then you freeze as you notice the blood on his face. "Are you okay Nolan? You get in a fight big guy?" You say aloud as you crouch down to walk over to him. He lets out low mean growl, then a whine as he abruptly turns and runs away.
